Simon Squibb: British entrepreneur & multi millionaire investor

Simon Squibb is a UK-based entrepreneur who became famous for asking random strangers about their dreams. He is more than just a business personality and is involved in other tasks such as investing, public speaking, etc. He is also an author who is set to make his debut with the book in January 2025.

Who is Simon Squibb?

Simon Squibb, born on 16 April 1974, is an English entrepreneur, investor, public speaker, and social media personality. The 50-year-old hails from London, England, and found a path to success despite not finishing high school.

Upon his father’s demise during his teenage years, his mother forcefully kicked him out of her home. While suffering financially, he somehow started a gardening business with very little money. Though he didn’t have much business experience, his hard work helped him make profits through this business.

He ran this business for a few years and moved to Hong Kong at age 23. He spent two decades in the country while founding multiple businesses including a creative agency named Fluid. This company was the market agency and was eventually sold to PwC in January 2016.

Apart from this, he founded other businesses Nest.vc and Metta in 2010 and 2016 respectively. Both companies no longer exist where he stepped down from the founder/chairman position of Nest.vc in December 2019 and shut down Metta in July 2020.

Currently, he is focused on HelpBnk, co-founded in April 2023. The platform helps business guidance to growing entrepreneurs and rewards its users for sharing knowledge. Leaving this, he began investing in budding startups over the past decade.

His wife is an entrepreneur

Simon Squibb is married to Helen Griffiths. He met her after moving to Hong Kong. They started dating in the year 2000 and got married on 18 July 2017.

She is a Fine Arts graduate of Chelsea College of Art and Design. She moved to her home country Hong Kong after finishing higher studies where she set up several businesses such as a cafe, creative agency, etc.

She co-founded the creative agency Fluid alongside her husband in 2000. After the company was sold to PwC in 2016, she started a business in the health category named Wellbeings in 2018. Additionally, she co-founded Peas and Pod in July 2020 as per her LinkedIn account.

Simon has a 6-year-old son named Aidan Squibb with Helen.

Simon invested in over 75 companies

Squibb is quite popular for his diverse investment portfolio. He revealed that he had invested in 78 companies as per an Instagram post he shared in April 2024. His major investments include Buffer, Codementor, Headout, Breeze CMS, Framer, and much more.

He initially made millions through running and selling businesses in the 2000s and 2010s. It is known that he sold a market leader company in 2016. With this, he had enough funds to invest in as many businesses as possible.

While a few proved to be smart investments, a good chunk of investments failed due to various reasons. Companies that have closed include Sliced Investing, Bento, CoolChip Technologies, LendStreet, Bookity, etc.

He proudly showcased his investments in companies such as TableYeti, Podcast Radio, Heights, and Royal TW Water on his LinkedIn account. His income from various sources helped his net worth stand at an estimated $450 million.

How he became famous on social media?

Simon Squibb first shared long-format videos on YouTube in early 2020. Upon sharing content actively for two years, he earned only a few thousand subscribers. Thereby, he wanted to focus on short-form video content.

He then began posting regular videos on Instagram and Tiktok. He started a series where he is seen walking on the streets of London asking strangers a simple question – “What’s your dream?”. He asks this question with an expectation of two positive outcomes.

Firstly, if someone doesn’t have a dream, the question helps in waking them up. Or else, a person with a dream can receive help from Squibb himself and their brand gets exposure to millions of people on the internet.

While he also shares other video content, this series is the reason why most people discovered him. Currently, he has more than 3.4 million followers and 63 million total likes on Tiktok.

Upon earning an audience, he resumed sharing long videos on YouTube giving business advice in a detailed manner. His most popular video is “30 Years of Business Knowledge in 2hrs 26mins” with over 5 million views. As the title suggests, he shares useful business knowledge. His subscriber count is nearing the one million mark.
